Day 3 of the nation-wide protests across Nigeria continues to escalate, as citizens grapple with the escalating cost of living and deteriorating economic conditions. What began as isolated demonstrations has rapidly transformed into a nationwide movement, with protesters demanding urgent government intervention.

The demonstrations, marked by both peaceful assemblies and instances of violence, underscore the growing frustration among Nigerians who are struggling to make ends meet. The soaring prices of essential commodities, including food, fuel, and transportation, have placed an immense burden on households, pushing many to the brink of poverty.

Key demands from protesters include immediate measures to address inflation, job creation, improved security, and good governance. The government has thus far responded with a mix of conciliatory statements and security crackdowns, leading to further tensions.

In the capital Abuja, the commercial hub Lagos and the northern city of Kano, armed police have since been deployed on major roads, setting up security check points and engaging “unruly” protesters. Analysts warn that unless the government takes decisive steps to address the root causes of the protests, the situation could escalate into a full-blown crisis with far-reaching consequences.
