The highly anticipated 9th edition of the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) took place on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the prestigious Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Live News reports that the event was a star-studded affair, honoring the remarkable talents and achievements in the film industry across Africa.
One of the highlights of the night was the presentation of the Industry Merit Award to the legendary actress, Patience Ozokwor, for her exceptional contribution to the industry. Ozokwor’s remarkable career has spanned decades, and this well-deserved recognition acknowledged her invaluable service to African cinema.
Jade Osiberu’s “Brotherhood” and Kunle Afolayan’s “Anikulapo” emerged as the big winners of the evening, securing multiple awards in various categories.
Osiberu’s “Brotherhood” captivated audiences with its exceptional storytelling, while Afolayan’s “Anikulapo” showcased his directorial prowess and artistic vision.
