A TikTok user named Ego Okoye, who was apprehended for making defamatory statements against actress Eniola Badmus, revealed that her actions were motivated by a promise made by her friend, Fortune Ibe, who pledged to pay her N200,000.
Apologizing for her conduct in a video clip, Okoye admitted that she resorted to defaming the actress because she urgently needed the money to pay her house rent, citing desperation as the driving force behind her actions.
She stated, “What happened was that a friend of mine, Fortune Ibe, said if I should come out and talk about Mrs. Eniola Badmus, he was going to send me N200k because I told him about my rent. That was what prompted the video. I am so sorry; I just did that because I was desperate to pay my house rent. I just did it because of the money.”

In response to Okoye’s arrest, Eniola Badmus declined to settle the matter out of court and insisted on pressing charges against the TikTok user for tarnishing her hard-earned reputation.
When asked if she had ever wronged Okoye, the actress replied, “Nothing,” refuting any claims of wrongdoing on her part.
Undeterred, Badmus remained firm in her decision to take the matter to court, expressing her disbelief at the false accusations against her.
She confronted Okoye, saying, “You just decided to spoil my name. Don’t worry; we are going to court. This is the girl who called me a professional pimp. Have I pimped you before? Your friend, where is she? You must provide her; don’t you have the friend again? She must come back; she will be your witness.”
In one of the video clips, the insignia Eniola Badmus TV was displayed, indicating its association with the actress’s content.
