These comments were a direct response to a report from Le Parisien, which suggested Mbappe’s interest in moving to Real Madrid following Karim Benzema’s departure from the club.
Mbappe clarified his contract situation in a statement to Agence France-Presse (AFP). He denied ever discussing a contract extension with PSG and confirmed that he does not intend to extend his current deal beyond 2024.

The 24-year-old revealed that PSG’s administrative council has been aware of his decision since July 15, 2022. Furthermore, he expressed disappointment that the private letter confirming his decision was leaked to the media, attributing it to an attempt to tarnish his image and his relationship with the club.
Mbappe’s decision not to extend his contract beyond 2024 poses a significant challenge for PSG.

With the risk of losing the star forward for free next summer, the club may consider selling him in the current transfer window to recoup some of their initial £155 million investment made in 2018.
Real Madrid has a long-standing interest in Mbappe and is regarded as a strong contender to secure his signature. The Spanish giants are actively searching for a new attacking option and could make a move for the French talent.
However, reports also suggest that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen on acquiring Mbappe’s services, hoping to tempt him to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United is another club rumored to be interested, but they may wait until the completion of a full takeover at Old Trafford before submitting a bid.
Last season, Kylian Mbappe showcased his prowess by scoring 29 goals in 34 league appearances, contributing to PSG’s fifth Ligue 1 title triumph and securing his sixth overall.
However, PSG faces the prospect of losing not only Mbappe but also Lionel Messi, who is set to join Inter Miami, and Neymar, who could be heading to Saudi Arabia.
The potential departure of these three star players in a single summer would undoubtedly have a significant impact on PSG’s squad composition and future ambitions.
