Liverpool is reportedly setting its sights on a £40 million move for Leeds United’s 17-year-old midfielder, Archie Gray, a mere three months after his debut for the club.
According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are considering acquiring Gray during the summer transfer window in 2024.
The 17-year-old, who has showcased impressive performances under the management of Daniel Farke, could command a transfer fee ranging between £40 and £50 million ($49m/$61m). With two years left on his current contract, Leeds is deliberating the prospect of parting ways with their emerging talent.
Gray’s on-field versatility, excelling midfield and right-back, has drawn comparisons to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Despite interest from Crystal Palace and Everton in the England U19 international, Gray might be enticed by the opportunity to join Liverpool and play under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp’s demonstrated commitment to nurturing young talents, as evidenced by players like Harvey Elliott and Jarrell Quansah, adds to the appeal.
Looking ahead, Liverpool is scheduled to return to Premier League action at Anfield against Brentford on Sunday, November 12, while Leeds will face Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, November 11.
