The Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA is the league’s global youth basketball program, designed to teach fundamental skills and core values of the game at the grassroots level. This initiative aims to enhance the youth basketball experience for players, coaches, and parents.
Last year, the Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA program reached over 170,000 youth across Africa. Moving forward, they plan to host quarterly events to identify and nurture talent.
NBA Nigeria continues to provide platforms for young athletes to learn and showcase their skills. Through initiatives like the Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA Elite Camp, youth athletes receive top-tier coaching, engage in competitive games, and grow both athletically and personally.
By focusing on fundamental skills and core values, NBA Nigeria fosters the next generation of basketball talent while empowering young individuals to excel in all areas of life. The program’s commitment to quarterly camps ensures a steady stream of emerging talent ready to impact the sport both locally and globally.

“We are excited about introducing an elite camp in Nigeria. It aligns with our broader efforts to uncover and develop young basketball talent here in Nigeria and across the continent. We aim to provide more elite young athletes with a disciplined and high-quality training environment for developing their skills as basketball players and leaders. We intend to conduct more elite camps, giving many young athletes the opportunity to showcase their talent,” said Gbemisola Abudu, NBA Africa Vice President and Country Head, NBA Nigeria.
These efforts contribute to a better society by fostering athletic talent and personal growth among young people.
