Nottingham Forest is on the verge of completing a significant transfer coup as they have reportedly agreed to sign USA international goalkeeper Matt Turner from Arsenal for around £10 million.
Turner joined Arsenal last year from New England Revolution and was initially brought in as the Gunners’ number two goalkeeper behind Aaron Ramsdale.
During his time at Arsenal, Turner had limited playing opportunities in the Premier League, with Ramsdale being the preferred choice for league matches. However, he had significant minutes in the Europa League and FA Cup, playing seven games for the Gunners in the 2022-23 season. Turner showcased his talent and earned plaudits for his solid performances, keeping four clean sheets during the campaign.
Despite his impressive displays, it was clear that Turner was not expected to challenge Ramsdale for the number-one spot at Arsenal. Consequently, Nottingham Forest seized the opportunity to secure the experienced goalkeeper and strengthen their squad.

Forest’s pursuit of Turner came after their attempts to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United did not materialize. Instead, Turner emerged as a prime target, and the club has now agreed with Arsenal for his transfer.
The deal is set to include add-ons, with Arsenal receiving around £10 million for the transfer. Once the formalities are completed, Turner will undergo a medical at the City Ground on Monday.
At Nottingham Forest, Turner will join the goalkeeping ranks alongside Ethan Horvath and Wayne Hennessey. The club’s interest in Turner was driven by their desire to bolster their goalkeeping department, and they view him as a valuable addition to the squad.
Turner’s potential debut for Nottingham Forest could be high-profile, as Forest is set to face Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium. This intriguing matchup may allow Turner to showcase his abilities against his former club.

As Turner makes his way to Nottingham Forest, Arsenal is reportedly looking to intensify their efforts to sign Brentford shot-stopper David Raya to reinforce their goalkeeping options. While Arsenal’s initial bid of £23 million for Raya was unsuccessful, the Gunners remain confident they can secure his signature for a reduced price. Raya’s contract at Brentford expires in 2024, allowing Arsenal to negotiate a favorable deal.

The transfer window drama continues, and the movements of players like Matt Turner and the potential signing of David Raya add further excitement to the Premier League ahead of the new season.
