Eyo Edet, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, has been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
Police spokesperson Odiko Macdon has confirmed the incident, revealing that investigations are already in progress.
According to reports, Eyo Edet was abducted from his Filling Station, Eyotech Nigeria Limited, in the Oron Local Government area of Akwa Ibom. The incident occurred on Monday when the kidnappers confronted Edet and forcibly took him away in a Sienna car. Subsequently, they transported him to a waiting speed boat before setting fire to the Sienna vehicle they arrived in.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, visited the scene of the crime and ordered a thorough investigation. According to Macdon, the police have recovered the burnt Sienna vehicle and are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He said: “We received the information. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, visited the scene of the incident and went to the waterfront; even the Sienna used to perpetuate the act has been recovered.
“Investigations have commenced already and I’m sure the perpetrators will be brought to book in no distant time.”
