According to Simi, she was instructed by the officials at the gate to return home and change her outfit before being allowed inside. Even her celebrity status failed to sway the adamant officials.
In addition to changing her attire, she was also asked to remove her nose-ring and earrings.
Simi expressed her frustration in her Instagram post, stating, “I went to the passport office to get my passport done and when I reached the gate, they said I should go back because I am indecently dressed.”

She further questioned the officials, asking if they could identify anything indecent about her appearance. Although they admitted they couldn’t see anything, they insisted that she should dress more modestly.

This incident bears striking similarity to a previous occurrence involving Ayra Starr, a fast-rising Nigerian singer. Earlier this year, Ayra Starr also faced a humiliating experience at a Nigerian passport office.
In a video that went viral, she lamented being asked to remove her lashes before being attended to. Ayra Starr expressed her frustration, vowing never to forgive the officers who subjected her to such treatment.
“This passport office people really made me just remove my lashes. I’ll never forgive y’all,” she said.
