According to a report by The New York Times, an unidentified female opened fire at a Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, killing six people and injuring several others.
The Covenant School, which caters to children between preschool and sixth grade, was the site of the shooting, with the first calls for help coming in at around 10:15 a.m. local time on Monday.
Responding authorities encountered the shooter, armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun, on the second floor of the building. Police shot her and pronounced her dead at 10:27 a.m.

Among the six victims were three children and three adults, all pronounced dead at local hospitals. It remains unclear if the shooter had any connection to the school, and authorities have not yet confirmed her identity.
Initially, authorities described the shooter as a teenage girl before eventually releasing information that said she was 28 years old. The Violence Project reports that men or boys commit 98 percent of mass shootings.
The Covenant School, with a student body of approximately 200, is affiliated with Covenant Presbyterian Church. The premises can host up to 50 adults at any given time.
The authorities have not disclosed the identities or ages of the victims.
