Attention Nigerian men: if you’re currently married to a pregnant woman, I have some news for you
You’re officially on duty as a supportive partner! That’s right; it’s time to trade in your “me time” for “we time” and help your pregnant wife out.
And no, I’m not just saying this because it’s the right thing to do (although it is), but also because you’ll be rewarded with a happy wife and a peaceful home. Some of you might think, “But I don’t know how to help!”
Fear not, my dear friend, for I have some tips to turn you into a pregnancy support superhero.
First and foremost, understand that pregnancy is not a walk in the park.
Your wife’s body is undergoing major changes, and it’s not always comfortable. She’s likely experiencing fatigue, nausea, back pain, and a whole host of other symptoms. So, step up to the plate and offer to help with chores around the house. Cooking, cleaning, laundry – all of these things will be appreciated. Trust me; your wife will thank you for it.

Secondly, be present.
Attend doctor’s appointments with your wife, and be involved in the pregnancy journey. Ask questions, listen to your wife’s concerns, and actively participate in the birth plan. Your wife will feel supported and loved, and you’ll better understand what she’s going through.
Thirdly, be flexible.
Pregnancy can be unpredictable, so be prepared to adjust your plans accordingly. If your wife feels sick or tired, be understanding and adapt your schedule to accommodate her needs. Remember, she’s growing a human inside her – that’s no small feat!
And finally, be patient.
Pregnancy can be an emotional rollercoaster, so be prepared for mood swings. Your wife might be happy and in tears the next, and that’s okay. Be a listening ear and a comforting presence; know this will pass.
My darling Nigerian men, helping your pregnant wife is not only the right thing to do but also the smart thing to do. You’ll set yourself up for a happy and peaceful home by being supportive, present, flexible, and patient. And who doesn’t want that?
So go forth, my friends, and be the pregnancy support superheroes your wives need you to be!
