And subsequently, also, the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, will now assume the office of acting National Secretary.”
In addition, Kyari announced postponing the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for July 19. While Kyari did not disclose the reasons behind Adamu’s resignation, he confirmed it was voluntary. However, both Adamu and Omisore had faced allegations of mismanagement of funds. Salihu Mustapha, the vice chairman (North-west), had accused the two of mismanaging party funds.
Abdullahi Adamu, 77, served as the fourth national chairman of the APC since the party’s formation in 2013. Before his tenure as chairman, he was a senator representing Nasarawa West. Adamu had also served as the governor of Nasarawa State between 1999 and 2007 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and as the minister of state for works during the military administration of Sani Abacha.
On the other hand, Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and a senator representing Osun East under the PDP has also resigned from his position as National Secretary of the APC.
