The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, of attempting to steal the mandate of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Earlier, the LP candidate stated that he was challenging the process, leading to Tinubu’s declaration as the February 25 presidential election winner.
However, Obi refuted claims that he planned to hold an ‘end INEC,’ ‘end Nigeria’ protest in the country.
In response to Obi’s actions, Bayo Onanuga, director, media, and publicity of the APC campaign council, stated on Friday accusing the LP candidate of “pushing a false narrative” and “appealing to tribal and religious sentiments.”

Onanuga also noted that Obi’s statements were “a contempt of court” as he sought justice while “embarking on a mission of intimidating the judiciary.”
The APC campaign council expressed concern about Obi’s statements. They claimed his statements were “misleading, criminally false, and inciting.” The council also accused Obi of inflaming passions and spreading lies. They noted that the elections were over, and a winner had been announced. However, they claimed Obi was still campaigning as if he was running for the highest office in the land.
Onanuga said, “From the false narrative Obi has been pushing, he is the one trying to steal Bola Tinubu’s mandate, by appealing unashamedly to tribal and religious sentiments and by resorting to his sickening penchant for lying bold-facedly to snatch what does not belong to him.”
The party spokesperson called security agencies to call Obi to order and advised NBC to caution TV stations about giving him a platform to de-legitimize a free and fair election when he took his case to court.
“We call on the security agencies to caution him from further making incendiary remarks, especially after he claimed he is challenging the results of the election in the tribunal,” Onanuga said.
