David Umahi, Ebonyi State Governor, has called on Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar to withdraw their election petitions and accept their defeat.
He encouraged them to prioritize the interest and unity of Nigeria by allowing the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to take over governance from President Muhammadu Buhari and move the nation forward.
In his words:
“I plead with Nigerians especially those who contested with them, our dear brother Peter Obi and the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, to embrace the pact of peace, and accept victory because nothing can be except God says so. Victory of Shetima and Asiwaju came from God and since they believe in God, they should, please, join hands with Asiwaju to rebuild the nation, Nigeria, and reunite our people.”

He also urged to end the litigation, stating that it was time for the country’s leaders to unite to rebuild the nation and secure a brighter future for future generations.
Umahi also expressed interest in contesting for the position of Senate President of the 10th National Assembly and pleaded with the leadership of the APC and the President and Vice President-elect to zone the Senate Presidency to the Southeast and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the Northwest for the sake of inclusiveness and fairness.
He added: “I’m asking the Senate, National Assembly to set aside the rules so that we can get the best for the leadership of the Assembly. I’m indicating interest.”
