During a recent video interview, Don Jazzy, the acclaimed music executive and founder of Mavins Record, revealed his desire to sign Wizkid, Falz, and several other talented artists.
However, much to his disappointment, Banky W beat him to the punch and secured the talented Wizkid before he could.
In the interview, Don Jazzy expressed his admiration for Wizkid and his immense potential. He acknowledged that signing Wizkid would have been an incredible achievement for his record label. However, fate had other plans, and Banky W seized the opportunity before Don Jazzy could make his move.
Don Jazzy didn’t stop at Wizkid; he also revealed his interest in signing Falz, the multi-talented Nigerian rapper and actor. Despite his admiration for Falz’s work, a deal between them never materialized, leaving Don Jazzy with a lingering sense of what could have been.
The video interview shed light on Don Jazzy’s perspective and desire to work with exceptional talents. He openly admitted, “I had the opportunity of signing Davido, but I didn’t because I kind of figured that I would be fine. Wizkid, obviously. I couldn’t because Banky W got him first. That would have been amazing. Falz, I love his work. We almost had a deal.”
Don Jazzy also expressed his regret over not signing popular singers, Teni and Simi. He made it clear that although he had the chance to sign Teni, he failed to do so, and now he deeply regrets that decision.
When discussing Simi, Don Jazzy revealed his admiration for her talent and shared his wish that he had signed her.
