Gunmen have tragically taken the life of Professor Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole, a lecturer at the University of Ibadan.
The Live News reports that the incident occurred on Monday evening as Ajewole returned to his residence in the Moniya area of Ibadan.
According to sources, the assailants shot him and made off with his car. Afterward, they deposited Ajewole’s body at the UI Anatomy.
Confirming the devastating news, a close friend of the deceased, Olukayode Ogunsanwo, expressed his sorrow, saying, “Yes, it is true. It is true.” Ogunsanwo added, “But we are not sure if armed robbers or hired assassins are responsible, leaving the motive behind the attack uncertain.”
At the time of his untimely death, Ajewole served as a lecturer in the Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of Ibadan. The news of his demise has left the academic community in shock and mourning.
Joke Akinpelu, the Principal Assistant Registrar of Public Communications at the university, verified the incident when contacted.
She stated, “He was killed yesterday. The incident happened yesterday.” However, she did not provide further details regarding the tragic event’s circumstances.
