The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to appoint 20 Special Advisers.
The Live News reports that the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, presented the President’s request to the Senate on Tuesday.
The Senate promptly approved the request after reading the letter, even though the President’s letter did not include the names of the 20 Special Advisers. The decision to approve was based on the urgency conveyed by President Tinubu in his letter.
Addressing the request, Senator Lawan emphasized the importance of the President having a team to work with and stated, “Because there is no name for special advisers, we will just approve it from here. We feel that this is something of utmost urgency.”

This development follows President Tinubu’s recent announcements regarding key appointments. He named Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his Chief of Staff.
Additionally, Senator George Akume, the former Minister of Special Duties, was appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
With the Senate’s approval, President Tinubu will now have the opportunity to select and appoint the 20 Special Advisers. These special advisers are expected to be crucial in advising and supporting his administration.
