The House of Representatives is urging the Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States electorate to actively participate in the upcoming November 11, 2023, Governorship Elections.
Rep. Akin Rotimi, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, and Rep. Adebayo Balogun, Chairman of the House Committee on Electoral Matters, jointly released this statement in Abuja.
In their call to action, the Representatives underscored the significance of elections as a platform for citizens to choose their leaders and entrust them with the responsibility of governance.
They encouraged all eligible voters in the three states to seize the opportunity on Saturday to exercise their right to vote.
Additionally, the Representatives urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the conduct of a free and fair election.
The statement reads, “Stakeholders in the electoral process, including the political parties and their candidates, are urged to play by the rules of the exercise, and our security agencies are encouraged to remain professional and non-partisan in the discharge of their duties.
“The 10th Assembly, House of Representatives, is committed to strengthening our Electoral laws and ensuring enforcement to deepen our electoral process and serve as a deterrent against electoral malpractices.”
