Like Caicedo, Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has decided to join Chelsea instead of Liverpool.
The two clubs’ relationship appears amicable, hinting at a smooth negotiation process for the transfer deal.
The transfer is expected to involve a substantial sum of around £50 million, complemented by various add-ons that would contribute to sealing the transfer of the talented 19-year-old player.
Although Liverpool also expressed interest in the Belgian international midfielder, the player clearly prefers Chelsea.

Interestingly, Lavia will share his new club, Stamford Bridge, with another player previously targeted by Liverpool – Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian player is set to move to Chelsea in a record-breaking deal worth £115 million. This decision comes despite Liverpool’s earlier bid of £111 million, which Brighton accepted. Ultimately, Caicedo favored the prospect of playing for Chelsea over Liverpool.
Liverpool and Chelsea have made previous attempts during this summer transfer window to secure Lavia’s services.

The young midfielder, however, has not appeared in Southampton’s first two games of the 2023-24 Championship season. This move has raised eyebrows, especially since Liverpool was eyeing Lavia as a potential replacement for Fabinho. Fabinho had recently completed a transfer to Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.
The ongoing transfer saga involving Lavia took another turn when Liverpool’s bid of approximately £46 million was turned down, as reported on August 7.
In a noteworthy match, Chelsea and Liverpool faced each other at Stamford Bridge, resulting in a 1-1 draw in their opening fixture of the Premier League campaign.
