Manchester United’s interest in French right-back Benjamin Pavard has captured attention, but the path to acquisition is far from smooth.
According to sources, United’s offer of approximately £25 million falls significantly short of Bayern Munich’s reported asking price. The German giants are holding out for a fee between €45 million and €50 million (£39 million – £43 million), indicating their resolve to retain Pavard unless their valuation is met.

Erik ten Hag, United’s manager, seeks to bolster the right-back position, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot currently filling the role. However, Bayern’s steadfast demand and Pavard’s eagerness to depart complicate the negotiations. While Pavard’s contract expires next year, he yearns for an immediate exit.
Manchester United’s pursuit extends beyond defense to midfield as they set their sights on Everton’s Amadou Onana. The club’s midfield enhancement plans align with Erik ten Hag’s vision for the team. While Onana fits the profile United seeks, The Guardian reports that securing his signature would require a substantial investment of at least £50 million.

Everton, having acquired Onana from Lille for £33 million just a year ago, exhibits a reluctance to part with the 21-year-old. Despite their need to reinforce the striking department, the Toffees stand firm, banking on Onana’s future value appreciation.
While Manchester United maneuvers through the complex terrain of the transfer landscape, their competitors are also making noteworthy advancements. Chelsea’s completion of the £115 million signing of Moises Caicedo and Liverpool’s triumphant £60 million offer for Romeo Lavia are major moves that have gotten lovers of the sport talking. While United’s earlier acquisition of Mason Mount during the summer transfer window undeniably showcases their aspirations, Erik ten Hag’s dedicated pursuit of Onana shows a quest for the desired midfield balance.
