Two Nigerian siblings, Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, have been successfully extradited to the United States.
This extradition is for prosecution in connection with a disturbing case of sexual extortion that targeted numerous young men and teenage boys through social media platforms.
The Ogoshi brothers residing in Lagos are now in U.S. custody to answer charges related to their alleged involvement in sexual extortion incidents. This case gained particular attention due to its tragic outcome involving Jordan DeMay, a 17-year-old American who died by suicide in March 2022 in Marquette, Michigan.
The U.S. Department of Justice revealed that the two brothers and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, 19, had reportedly acquired compromised social media accounts and used them to impersonate young women. Through this deceptive online persona, they enticed teenage and young adult males into explicit conversations.

Throughout their interactions with the victims, the trio engaged in explicit chats and collected information about the victims’ personal lives. They scoured the internet to find details about the victims’ residences, schools, workplaces, and their circle of family and friends.
On July 20, a significant development unfolded as Binta Nyako, a judge presiding over the federal high court, ruled in favor of the extradition of the two brothers to U.S. authorities.
A statement issued by the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that the Ogoshi siblings are scheduled to be formally charged on Monday afternoon at the federal courthouse in Grand Rapids.
Meanwhile, the extradition process for Ezekiel Ejehem Robert is still in progress.

The statement read: “It’s anticipated that the extradited defendants’ initial appearance will take place Monday afternoon at the federal courthouse in Grand Rapids at a time to be determined by the court,” the statement reads.
“Nigerian authorities arrested Samuel and Samson Ogoshi in Nigeria in January 2023 at the request of the United States.
“Nigerian prosecutors managed the extradition proceedings on behalf of the United States. “On July 20, the Honorable Justice B.F.M. Nyako ordered both Ogoshis to be turned over to the United States to face the charges in the indictment.
“On August 3, B.E. Jedy Agba, the solicitor-general of the Nigerian Federation, signed the final surrender order, authorizing the United States to bring the Ogoshis to West Michigan.”

Mark Totten, a U.S. Attorney, was quoted as saying he was pleased about the swiftness of the extradition.
“Sextortion is a horrible crime. To those who commit these crimes: we will pursue you around the world. And to those who are victims: please know we stand ready to help you,” Totten said.
“I am extremely pleased with how swiftly extradition efforts moved forward and am grateful to the FBI and our Nigerian law enforcement partners for their unyielding work to secure justice in this international sexual exploitation investigation.”
