Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is currently in advanced negotiations with Luis Enrique to become their new head coach, according to reports.
These discussions have come after talks with Julian Nagelsmann fell through earlier this week. While PSG remains cautious until finalizing the deal, Luis Enrique has already accepted the job, and his coaching staff is currently discussing the details.
However, Luis Enrique’s camp has not made any official comments, and they will continue the final stages of the negotiations until completion.
Luis Enrique, a former manager for the Spanish national team and FC Barcelona, is no stranger to success. He led Barcelona to a Champions League victory eight years ago. After leaving his post with the Spanish team last December, he has been out of work.
Earlier, it was reported that PSG had narrowed down its list of potential candidates to four individuals: Luis Enrique, Sergio Conceicao, Marcelo Gallardo, and Thiago Motta. The club has already reached out to Conceicao, who is currently the manager of Porto. Meanwhile, Luis Enrique garnered significant support from club officials in Doha, owing to his previous experience coaching Barcelona and the Spanish national team. PSG has also expressed interest in Gallardo, a former player who now coaches River Plate in Argentina, and Motta, currently in charge at Bologna in Serie A.
Whoever assumes the role of head coach at PSG will enter a turbulent period at the club. Recently, the team has experienced the departures of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, while Kylian Mbappe has confirmed his intention to leave on a free transfer next summer. Additionally, Neymar has shown openness to potentially moving away from the club. PSG’s primary aim remains winning the Champions League, and they hope that Luis Enrique’s leadership will guide them to victory.
