In July 2023, Chelsea offered £70 million for Caicedo, which Brighton rejected. Later in July 2023, Chelsea made a second bid of £80 million for Caicedo, which Brighton also rejected. In August 2023, Chelsea made a third bid of £100 million for Caicedo, which Brighton rejected. Chelsea’s fourth and final bid was valued at £115 million, a sum that ultimately persuaded Brighton to part ways with the talented midfielder.
Liverpool also expressed keen interest in acquiring Caicedo’s services, and the possibility of him joining the Reds briefly emerged. However, Caicedo communicated his exclusive desire to join Chelsea, thereby dashing Liverpool’s hopes of securing him.
