Real Madrid remains interested in securing Kylian Mbappe, but scarred by past dealings, the Spanish giants are adopting a cautious approach.
Reports suggest that while interest in Mbappe has slightly cooled, Madrid hasn’t completely abandoned the prospect.
Contrary to some speculations, French radio station RMC reveals that Madrid still maintains interest but will refrain from initiating any move, expecting Mbappe to take the lead in securing the transfer.
Despite being a long-standing target for Madrid, recent uncertainties have clouded the potential deal.
RMC quotes a Real Madrid source, stating, “If Mbappe wants to come, let him do the job.”
According to the report, Madrid has currently halted communication with Mbappe’s representatives, putting the onus on the French superstar to rekindle negotiations.
Madrid’s relentless pursuit of Mbappe has faced setbacks, notably in 2022, causing embarrassment and frustration. However, with Mbappe’s current contract set to expire in 2024 and Madrid’s burgeoning young talents, the once highly coveted signature may no longer hold the same allure for the club.
Looking ahead, the 24-year-old Mbappe is set to captain PSG in their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece this week.
